Antagonist: The adversary of the hero or protagonist of a drama or other literary work
- To decide upon the antagonist in Frankenstein, one must first figure out who or what is the protagonist. Since its been deduced that its Victor Frankenstein, it can then be inferred that it antagonist is the being Frankenstein creates. This however be mentioned also with the fact that antagonist is simply the being that opposes the protagonist and not necessarily the evil side that is fighting the protagonist's good side. Frankenstein's creation can be taken as a tragic character as well who's simply done morally wrong things because of the events that happened to him. Since he is however the one who causes the downward spiral that is Victor's life and is the reason Walter finds Victor as only a shell of his former self, Frankenstein's creature is considered the antagonist.
