Scientific Description:

Tubers roundish, undivided. Stem with linear-lanceolate leaves, crowded near base. Spike dense, pyramidal, becoming oblong. Flowers small. Sepals and petals ± equal. Labellum flat, fan-shaped, 3-lobed, with 2 prominent longitudinal parallel ridges at base; spur long, filiform. Column short, anther obtuse; both pollinia attached to a single transversely strap-shaped viscid gland, enclosed in a pouch. Ovary cylindrical, subsessile, twisted, glabrous.

Public Description:

Anacamptis is a genus of orchids known as “Ant” in horticulture and these terrestrial orchids occur on grasslands, limestone or chalk deposits, or on dunes in Eurasia, from the Mediterranean region to Central Asia. They are tuberous herbaceous perennial plants. There are approximately 34 species in the world and 10 species (11 taxa) in Türkiye.
