Founded in the 1850s, it is one of the oldest continuously settled communities in Dallas County. Throughout this long and vibrant history, the tradition of resiliency exhibited by generation after generation of Lancasterites in the face of challenges – both big and small – has proven to be a major reason why the community has continued to thrive for over 150 years.
Lancaster and the cities of DeSoto, Duncanville, and Cedar Hill are part of the "Best Southwest" region, a dynamic and fast-growing area of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex that is home to approximately 171,160 residents.
