Hieroglyphics and the Rosetta Stone
Ancient Egyptian civilization started to die out / be taken over around the year 200 C.E. Since that time, archaeologists have discovered many artifacts from ancient Egypt, but were unable to learn much about their culture because they could not figure out how to read the hieroglyphics writing. The writing was all over the walls of tombs and temples, but its meaning was a mystery.
Until, one day, this stone was found. It is called the Rosetta Stone. Click here to learn about the Stone.
