Prime Minister of Lebanon in Parliament

    

 On April 1 the delegation headed by Rafik Hariri, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon met with NA Vice Chairman Tigran Torosyan and the representatives of the NA Standing Committees and group-factions in the National Assembly. Deputies of Armenian origin Hakob Kasarjian (Head of the Lebanon-Armenia friendship delegation group), Yeghia Jerejian, Jean Oghasapian and Serge Tursargsian were in the delegation headed by the Prime Minister Hariri. The Ambassadors of two countries were attending the meeting.


Greeting the guests and highly evaluating the personal contribution of the Prime Minister Hariri in the development of the Armenian-Lebanese relations, the NA Vice Chairman Tigran Torosyan noted that the bilateral relations rise to a new degree after the Prime Minister’s every visit and expressed conviction that this visit will boost the development of the relations of the two countries. Highlighting the inter-parliamentary relations, Mr.Torosyan expressed hope that soon an opportunity will be given to accept the Lebanon-Armenia Friendship delegation group members in the Armenian Parliament. It was noted that the upcoming Armenian Parliamentary Friendship Assembly in June, where the Armenian and Lebanese MPs are invited to attend it, which will promote the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The NA Vice-chairman expressed his gratitude the Parliament of Lebanon in relation with the admission of the two formulas concerning the Armenian Genocide and special status of our mother tongue.

Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, underscoring the high level of the Armenian-Lebanese relations, highlighted the role of the Armenians in Lebanon in the political, social, economic and cultural life of Lebanon. There were always Armenian ministers working in the cabinet of the five governments headed by him, which symbolizes the centuries-old friendship of two people. It was noted that numerous agreements were signed and several agreements will also be signed during this visit, which will promote the deepening of the economic relations between two countries. In this sense mutual visits of the business circles was weighted.


During the meeting the perspectives of cooperation in European Structures were also discussed, the necessity of bilateral and multi lateral ties was highlighted.

Speaking about the current processes and regional developments in the Middle East, the two sides highlighted the distinct fulfillment of the international agreements, UN resolutions and formulas.

During the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
