Diagnosis:
|
Shell opaque whitish or yellowish, sometimes with a brown colour band, on lower side with some partly interrupted narrow bands, striated, 5.5-6 convex whorls, prominently keeled, last whorl convex on upper side, much less convex on lower side, aperture oblique and broad with white lip inside, margin sharp, umbilicus open.
Much like Trochoidea pyramidata, but whorls more step-like with keel, lower side more flattened, umbilicus narrower. Tro. elegans is larger and has flat whorls.

Biology:

Dry vegetation in coastal vicinity, usually in dunes, also in ruderal habitats with similar vegetation, up to 900 m.

Threatened:
|
In Spain threatened by destruction of dune habitats, populations in Alicante and Castellón might already be extinct.
Red List Spain: Vulnerable (Gómez Moliner et al. 2001, Verdú & Galante 2006).
