The Glossy Flowerpiercer is distributed in the Andes from northern Venezuela through Colombia and Ecuador to the extreme north of Peru. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Glossy Flowerpiercer, Chingaza, Cundinamarca, Colombia, April 2012 - click for larger image It is found in shrubby thickets and cloudforest mainly between 2,700 and 3,700 metres where it feeds on nectar and insects.
