Kuwait made its debut in the women’s part of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships

The ASBC Asian Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships turned to its title phase, the female boxers will be competing for the 10 gold medals in Dubai later today. One of the most exciting moments in the women’s part of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships was when Kuwait made its debut in the female competition.

Noura Almutairi is a newcomer in the Kuwaiti national team and made her debut at the light welterweight (64kg) where she finally claimed a valuable bronze medal in Dubai. The Kuwaiti girl never competed any international boxing championships or tournaments out of her country and made a historical step in Dubai.

Bahrain and United Arab Emirates sent women boxers to the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships two years ago following the official approval of wearing Hijab in the international events. Following their pioneer steps two years ago, Kuwait continued this pathway from the region’s countries and Noura Almutairi is their first ever female boxer who attended in the international boxing competitions.

The Kuwaiti girl was inexperienced in comparison to the other boxers in her weight category but she had good technical skills and fighting spirit against India’s Lalbuatsaihi in the semi-finals of the light welterweight (64kg). The more experienced Indian won the contest but Almutairi impressed during her debut in the international championships, landed nice punches and she had good skills. Lalbuatsaihi, who replaced Pwilao Basumatary in the national team, will be meeting with Kazakhstan’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist for the gold medal today.
