Agave Deserti 2

StockCactus-35

These are agave deserti photographed in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California. Many agave, such as deserti, reproduce two ways – seed and clone. This cluster of deserti are what botanists refer to as a “clone ring”. All of the plants in this cluster are directly related to a mother plant in the center that might actually be dead.
