Yellow Thistle is also known as Purple Thistle and that name might be a bit more accurate. The scientific name, horridulum, seems like an accurate description when you look at the number of thorns and bristles present on these plants. These plants are often found in fields, pastures, and roadsides and attract a large number of pollinators including many butterflies.
