To date Professor Robin C. Whatley is the leading authority on Easter Island Ostracoda.
He along with two other colleagues are the first to address this group. Below is a list of
the 31 known species to inhabit the surrounding shallow waters of the island.
My goal is to sort through sediments which I have collected from deeper water in order
to
help define vertical ranges and to look for additional unrecorded species. This will be
a
slow and tedious process, however it should be quite rewarding. I am also fortunate
because
Prof. Whatley has agreed to help identify any of the new finds.
