  Description: Perennials; culms 80-150 cm high; nodes glabrous. Leaves usually collected at base, 20-30 x 0.4-1 cm, linear-lanceolate; sheath sharply keeled; ligule a fimbriate membrane. Panicle 10-20 cm long, lax with few spikelets. Sessile spikelets 6-8 mm long; lower glume 6 x 1.5 mm with two lines of bristles on dorsal side near the margins; upper glume similar but not with bristles; second lemma delicate, 1-nerved; awn 40 mm long; anthers 3 mm long. Pedicelled spikelets to 14 mm long; glumes unequal, awnless; upper floret male; lemmas awnless.
