Colonies form a single plane and can reach 17 cm high and 12 cm across. Branches occasionally fuse to each other and sometimes form plates. Colonies are red or red-orange with white branch cores and tips.

This is endemic and is found in Fiordland, the Snares Islands and off the Auckland Islands. It is fairly common in the Fiords.

Filter Feeder.

It is found at SCUBA depths and can be dredged, However this species is protected and it is illegal to collect it.
