Authority The taxonomical history of this taxon is complex, and hence deciding who is the author of some names is difficult too. Microdalyellia was introduced by Gieysztor (1938), so all species he transferred to Microdalyellia have Gieysztor, 1938 as authority of the new combination. In case these species were brought into the subgenus Microdalyellia (Gieysztoria) by Ruebush and Hayes (1939), the authority of the combination remains Gieysztor, 1938, as the species are still in Microdalyellia. However, Luther considers the subgenus Gieysztoria a full genus. Following the rules of ICZN, the authority of the name Gieysztoria remains unchanged, independent of it's rank (subgenus or genus), hence Gieysztoria Ruebush & Hayes, 1939. But then all species that were in the subgenus Microdalyellia (Gieysztoria) and had Gieysztor, 1938 as the authority of the combination, now are species of Gieysztoria, and the authority of these combinations is now Ruebush & Haye, 1939.
