Ottawa Fury FC announced Thursday that defender Mason Trafford has re-signed with the club through 2017. The 29-year old defender has been part of the best defensive core in the NASL this season helping Fury FC set several NASL records, and putting the club on the cusp of a postseason berth in just its second season.

"I'm really happy to commit to Fury FC for the next two years," Trafford said. "The progress this club has made since I first signed has been fantastic and it is exciting to continue my career with such a quality organization.

"We have a great chance to make a run at The Championship this season and I'm proud to be a part of this team. My fiancée and I really enjoy the city and are looking forward to what the next couple of years will bring."

After featuring in every match in the club's inaugural season, the club's 'iron man' made the move from center back to left back for the 2015 campaign. Since his insertion into the line-up at left back on May 9, the club has lost just once in 20 matches and Trafford has been at the core of the best back line in the NASL. Ottawa has conceded just 12 goals during this impressive 20-game run (11W-8D-1L) shutting out the opposition on 11 occasions.

Heading into Sunday's all-Canadian derby against FC Edmonton, Trafford has featured in 47 career games for Fury FC logging some 4148 minutes - the most of any player in club history. The Vancouver native scored his first ever goal with Fury FC in their Fall Season opener on July 5 in a 2-0 victory over Jacksonville Armada FC. No Canadian player has logged more minutes in the NASL in the last two seasons than Trafford.
