Rhamphochromis sp."lake chilingala"

Rhamphochromis sp."lake chilingala" can be found in Lake Chilingala (this is another lake in Malawi) and is living there in open water in the neighbourhood of the intermediate zones from rocks to sand.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to 10 cm, females stay a little smaller, in the aquarium however the males can grow to about 16 cm.

It`s best to keep Rhamphochromis types in a specially for them prepared tank with a lot of swimming space and together with other large species which are also living in open water areas.

In the lake they are feeding themselves with "usipa" (Engraulicypris sardella), a species which looks like a pilchard. In the aquarium we also have to feed them with such kind of young fish.
