Common Name Sulpher Yellow Chelonistele

Flower Size 1 1/4" [3.1 cm]

Found in pennisular Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Java and the Philippines hill, lower montane moss, keranga, ridge oak/chestnut forests and subalpine shrubbery at elevations of 600 to 2700 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with swollen to slender pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2 apical, narrowly lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, acute, petiolate leaves that blooms in the spring on a erect, 8" [20 cm] long, several [7 to 15] flowered inflorescence with fragrant flowers arising out of a new pseudobulb growth.

The single leafed variety of this species is called var. sulphurea and is wide-spread and found at elevations of 600 to 2300 meters, the two leaved variety is called var. crassifolia and is only found on Sabah at elevations of 2100 to 2700 meters.
