Found from Mexico to Venezuela as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte that occurs in dry oak and pine forests with heavy summer rains and dry winters with low clouds and fog, at elevations of 700 to 2000 meters with an erect, stem carrying laterally compressed. conduplicate, linear-lanceolate, imbricating leaves and blooms at any time of the year on an apical, sessile, short, one to two flowered inflorescence arising through scarious, imbricating bracts and carrying erect, successively opening flowers.

Potting in a fine medium and given moderate light cold to warm temperatures and year round moisture will ensure a healthy plant.
