Dascyllus trimaculatus (Rüppell, 1829)
Threespot damsel, 14cm

These damsels are common on seaward, pinnacle and lagoon reefs. Juveniles are jet black with three white spots, one on the forehead and one on each side of the back below the center of the dorsal fin, and they aggregate around and among the tentacles of sea anemones. As they grow, they turn more gray and the white spots diminish and then disappear, and the fish move away from the anemones.
