Fish of the Speleogobius genus of the Gobiinae (true gobies) subfamily of the Gobiidae family of the Gobiiformes order of the Percomorpha clade of the Acanthopterygii superorder.

Grotto goby (Speleogobius trigloides) was first described in 1976 by German zoologists Claus Dieter Zander and H. J. Jelinek.

It inhabits the depth of 8-25 meters. It occurs in dimly lit underwater caves and grottoes. The maximum recorded length is 1.8 cm.

It is a permanent inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea, it is an endemic species, is more common near the islands of Croatia.
