Description with 16 photos. Photo: Finn Bertelsen. An upright growing, evergreen shrub. Hardy in the garden. Branchlets, petioles and pedicels initially covered  by appressed to protruding, ligulate brownish setae. Leaf blade elliptic to obovate, coriaceous, with revolute margins, to 6 cm. Leaf apex acute, with mucro. Leaf base cuneate. Leaf adaxial side dark green, shiny, with scattered brownish bristles on young leaves, to be shed later leaving som whitish stubbles. Leaf margins with brownish bristles. Leaf abaxial side with brown bristles on the midrib and with scattered dark stubbles. Flower bud spindle-shaped, greenish. Scales with dense marginal bristles and with a zone of bristle cover along the middle part. Calyx tiny with hairy rounded lobes. Corolla with 5 lobes, funnel-shaped, white with rose shades. Ovary densely covered by ligulate setae. Stamens (8) 10, glabrous. Style glabrous with crimson, somewhat swollen stigma with lobate margin. Capsule narrowly ovoid, densely covered by ligulate setae (to be shed in time). Seeds with very small floating appendages, 0.9-1.3 mm.
