Ten athletes tested positive for Clostebol in 2016, among them Therese Johaug (NOR, the worlds best female xc-skiier in 2015/16). That is three times as many as in 2015, and nearly twice as many as in 2013 when six athletes was banned for using the steroid.

In total the Anti-Doping Database has registered 37 athletes who has been banned for using the prohibited substance.
Most athletes are suspended for one year or more.

CYCLING AND ITALY.
Italy is the country with the most anti-doping rule violations involving this substance. Not surprisingly as the country is one of few together with Brazil who sell medicines containing this substance. 13 athletes from Italy has been suspended for clostebol.
Nine cyclists are among the 37 athletes. Five of the athletes had their sample collected out of competition.

THERESE JOHAUG.

In her positive dopingtest taken in Italy in August 2016 was it 13 nanogram per milliliter. This is a very small dose, which indicate that this came from her lipcream. If clostebol is taken as a tablet oral or by injection, as they usually do when this substance is used for doping, it would have been 100 to 1000 times higher value in the dopingtest. But anyway clostebol in any value is not alowed in the blood.

Therese Johaugs case has FIS (The international ski federation) brought infront of CAS, and the hearing will be at 6th of June 2017.
