I started reading The Heir because I loved the original trilogy. I knew the moment I opened the book that it wasn't going to revolve around America and Maxon. But I was unfortunately disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the book itself was well-written. But the children were unfortunately the huge turn-off. I've read many reviews complaining about how Eadlyn is spoiled, and I agree. But she was raised to be queen, so being spoiled was a bit expected. However, I was shocked by some of her morales. She did not seem like the offspring of the injustice-fighting couple we loved in the first three books. She even threatened to cane someone. Marlee's children were also done dirty. I was just so sad to see their children become such privileged brats. It made it very hard to enjoy the book.
