Chakras are the energy centers in the human body which signifies the energy transmission to the physical, mental and subtle body. Chakras regulate the energy flow to monitor and manipulate human emotions. The dictionary meaning of the chakra in Sanskrit is wheel. The chakras regulation practices are seen widely in Hinduism and Buddhism practices. 

 

There are 7 chakras in the human body. They are 

1. Crown chakra or Sahasrara chakra

2. Third eye chakra or Ajna chakra

3. Throat chakra or Visuddha chakra

4. Heart chakra or Anahata chakra

5. Solar plexus chakra or Manipura chakra

6. Sacral chakra or Svadhishthana chakra

7. Root chakra or Muladhara chakra

 

1. Crown chakra or Sahasrara chakra

Ruling Planet: Moon

Position: Top upper tip of the skull/head.

Associated: Crown chakra is the supreme chakra because it is in association with other six chakras. It regulates the entire body and its organs. Crown chakra primarily influences the brain and nervous system.

Color: Violet

God: Formless Almighty

Yoga Asana: Savasana or Corpse Pose.

 

2. Third eye chakra or Ajna chakra

Ruling Planet: Sun

Position: Glabella or in between the eyes.

Associated: Head, Eyes, Ears and Nose.

Color: Indigo

God: Bruhaspathi

Yoga Asana: Forward Fold Asana.

 

3. Throat chakra or Visuddha chakra

Ruling Planet: Saturn

Position: The Throat

Associated: Mouth, Tongue, Teeth, Gums, Throat and Thyroid.

Color: Blue

Goddess: Saraswati

Yoga Asana: Hala (plow) Asana and Maschya (fish) Asana.

 

4. Heart Chakra or Anahata Chakra

Ruling Planet: Venus

Position: Above the heart and at the center of the chest.

Associated: Heart and Lungs.

Color: Green

God: Shiva

Yoga Asana: Wheel Asana.

 

5. Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura Chakra

Ruling Planet: Jupiter

Position: Abdomen upper part.

Associated: Stomach and Digestive System.

Color: Yellow

God: Vishnu

Yoga Asana: Naava Asana (boat pose).

 

6. Sacral chakra or Svadhishthana chakra

Ruling Planet: Mercury

Position: Parts under the belly button and above the public bone.

Associated: Organs of Reproductive Systems.

Color: Orange

God: Brahma

Yoga Asana: Bridge Pose.

 

7. Root chakra or Muladhara chakra

Ruling Planet: Mars

Position: End tip of spine.

Associated: Excretory system. 

Color: Red

God: Ganesha

Yoga Asana: Vruksha Asana (tree pose).
