Waldorf Astoria Buckhead Makes Over Its Food to Attract Folks Seeking Tea, Cocktails, and Steak Frites

French-Southern restaurant Brassica is now open at the Waldorf Astoria in Buckhead, and it includes cocktail lounge Peacock Alley and afternoon tea service at the Solarium, once an open-air patio at the hotel.

Led in the kitchen by chef Christophe Le Métayer, expect dishes at Brassica styled after those found in casual French restaurants infused with ingredients and flavors from around the South. The menu highlights Brassica’s use of local produce and meats, dividing it into three sections: Growers and Producers; Butchers and Fishermen; and For Two, food meant for sharing.

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu features dishes like duck confit hash and a smoked salmon crepe in the morning, followed by yellow corn bisque with Gulf shrimp, a duck leg served with pressed potatoes, Georgia quail salad, and cast iron steak frites later in the day.

Billed as an ode to the hotel’s New York City location, cocktail lounge Peacock Alley resides in the Robert A.M. Stern lobby of the Waldorf Astoria Buckhead and serves as an “extension” to dining at Brassica. Look for drinks here like the rye whiskey-based Waldorf (a take on the original cocktail created by legendary barman Dale DeGroff,) along with original cocktails for the Buckhead location of the hotel, including the Spicy Margarita made with Anaheim chili and the Terminus Spritz mixed with sparkling wine and genepy alpine bitter.

For those seeking afternoon tea, the once open-air patio at the Waldorf has been transformed into a sunny Solarium. Here, people can order traditional afternoon tea service on the weekends, complete with trays of tea sandwiches and petit fours and sparking wine.
