Revile to Blessed

ENGLISH

Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.—1 Peter 3:9

Somedays, this type of self-control requires extraordinary if not supernatural strength. For eventually, you will encounter an abusive person. And the human response is to return the evil with evil; to return a revile with reviling. Yet when I have done this, it rarely works out well. I return the injustice hoping the offender will recognize the pain they have inflicted on me. But this diverts attention from the originating issue—from their pain to my pain—and thus, the cycle continues. On the contrary, there is another way. Be a blessing! By being a blessing, we not only stop the cycle, but we also focus on solutions to the originating pain. And both parties discover a better outcome. An outcome with eternal benefits. Save a brother and sister today from the pain they are suffering. Be a blessing.
