This common fig can grow as a a shrub, small tree or as an epiphytic liana. F. parietalis is easily distinguished by the reduced lateral (side) veins in the leaf compared with other SECTION SYCIDIUM figs. Normally F. parietalis has only 3 or 4 pairs of veins.
