This Suzuki Motorcycles got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1975 Suzuki RE5 is powered by a liquid-cooled 497cc Wankel rotary paired with a five-speed transmission and features CD ignition, aftermarket cast alloy wheels, dual front disc brakes, a dual-exit exhaust system, and a canister-style instrument cluster and taillight. The bike was acquired by the seller’s father in 2012, and a refurbishment in 2013 included painting the bodywork, powder-coating the frame and wheels, and fitting aftermarket piggyback shocks. Ownership was transferred to the seller following his father’s passing in 2016. This RE5 is now offered at no reserve with a spare engine, a tool kit, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The bodywork was reportedly refinished in General Motors’ Victory Red in 2013, and the frame and wheels were powder-coated Brightwork consists of the fenders, rear luggage rack, and chain guard, and additional equipment includes dual mirrors, a black radiator guard, a two-up seat, and a canister-style taillight. Corrosion is visible on bare metal surfaces.
Black-finished seven-spoke alloy wheels measure 19″ up front and 18″ out back and wear Bridgestone tires that show dry rot. Suspension consists of a conventional fork as well as dual Nicetect piggyback shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is handled by twin discs with single-piston calipers up front and a drum at the rear.
The canister-style gauge housing features a green-tinted dust cover and contains a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, a coolant temperature gauge, a gear position indicator, and a row of indicator lights. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, a handful of which were ridden by the seller.
The liquid-cooled 497cc Wankel rotary was factory rated at 62 horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque and features an oil cooler, CD ignition with points, both kick and electric starters, and a dual exhaust system with black heat shields. A spare engine is included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a multi-plate wet clutch, a five-speed transmission, and a drive chain.
