This remote-controlled model of a Tyrrell P34 is said to have been assembled by hand in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and was acquired by the seller approximately two years ago. The 1:3 scale car is built in the style of the six-wheeled vehicle that was campaigned by Tyrell Racing in the 1976 Formula One season. The model is finished in blue with yellow accents and is powered by a methanol-fueled Bouland Motors 76cc V8 linked to a transaxle with a centrifugal clutch drive. Additional equipment includes eight carburetors, center-lock wheels, four-wheel independent suspension, disc brakes, dual exhaust outlets, front and rear wings, and a roll hoop. This Tyrrell P34 1:3 scale RC car is offered at no reserve in Chula Vista, California, with a Flysky remote controller and a Jody Scheckter figurine.
The P34 was the first six-wheeled car to debut in Formula One, and it featured smaller front wheels mounted in banks of two on either side of the car coupled with larger wheels at the rear. The design was discontinued after the 1977 season citing Goodyear’s failure to properly develop the front tires needed for the car. The bodywork on this model is finished in blue with a #3 Tyrrell Racing livery and yellow accents. The engine compartment is exposed, and further exterior details include a roll hoop, front and rear wings, sponsorship decals, and dual exhaust outlets.
Black-finished center-lock wheels are secured via hexagonal nuts and wrapped in staggered-width Goodyear-branded tires. The car rides on a fully independent suspension with coilovers at each corner, and stopping power is provided by disc brakes.
The open cockpit features a single seat finished in black, a three-spoke steering wheel, and faux instrumentation. Total operating hours are unknown. A Jody Scheckter figurine is included.
The 76cc V8 was produced by Bouland Motors as a 1:3 scale replica of the 3.0-liter Cosworth V8 run in the contemporary Tyrrell Racing Formula One cars. The water-cooled engine runs on methanol with a 6% oil mixture and is equipped with an electric starter. Features include a 24mm bore, a 21mm stroke, billet connecting rods and pistons, and eight carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a transaxle equipped with a centrifugal clutch.
The Flysky FS-i6 remote-control console is accompanied by manufacturer’s packaging. The six-channel digital proportional unit is battery-operated and equipped with a throttle trigger. Spare bodywork is also included in the sale.
