Bill Aliber was one of the most dominating defensemen to ever play Division One lacrosse. He combined power, grace and superior stickhandling skills to overwhelm opposing attackmen and inspire his teammates. For four years his 6’6” presence brought calming security to Aliber’s coaches, Cliff Stevenson and Dominic Starsia. “It was such an incredible luxury,” remembers Starsia, “to not have to worry about the other team’s best player.” Aliber was the first Brown lacrosse player to make First Team All-Ivy three times and was the Ivy League Player of the Year in 1983. He was named All-America three times, including a First Team selection as a senior.

Aliber won First Team All-New England recognition three consecutive years and was thrice honored by his peers as team MVP. Aliber also lettered in football three times at Brown. This extraordinary athlete set the standard for all Brown lacrosse defensemen that followed. Aliber resides in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife, Kimberly, and his son, Thomas. A graduate of University of Chicago Business School, Aliber works in the Finance Division of Hallmark Cards.
