The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation

The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) is a specialized technical body of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the governing body of the National Agrarian Innovation System (SNIA). Its mission is to lead the research on and contribute to inclusive and sustainable agrarian innovation in coordination with the actors of the SNIA, to promote the productive sector with food security with an objective to promote and implement various activities that facilitate the development and strengthening of national agricultural technological innovation for food security and increase the levels of competitiveness of agricultural production, especially oriented to the social inclusion of small and medium producers.

INIA develops research activities, technology transfer, conservation and use of genetic resources, as well as the production of seeds, seedlings and reproducers of high genetic value,
articulates and regulates research, development and innovation (R + D + I) with the actors of the SNIA, aimed at competitiveness, food security and adaptation to climate change, and
formulates, proposes and executes the national policy and the agrarian innovation plan.
