The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has taken a decision to provide all students in the country with access to an internet connection.
This decision was taken during yesterday’s cabinet meeting.
The cabinet note said APUA-Inet will create hotspots “in communities where students are deemed likely to be deprived of the precious resource.”
Other internet providers have agreed to participate in the initiative and the service will be free
Minister of Information Milford Nicholas said his ministry is working out the final kinks in the plans to determine if the hotspots will be available solely for the use of students.
Nicholas could not give an exact timeline for the project but he noted some communities have hotspots in place.
