After 74 years, Gene & Georgetti is ready to expand, as they'll open their second location on July 6 in suburban Rosemont. The location is the only expansion in the storied history of the revered family-owned Chicago steakhouse. They've also hired a new executive chef and named the restaurant's private event space "The Estate By Gene & Georgetti."

Luis Quiroz will assume executive chef duties, according to a restaurant spokeswoman. Quiroz served in the same capacity for nine years up further north at the Barrington Country Bistro which closed last year due to increased rent.

As for the restaurant, it's the former Rosewood steakhouse at 9421 W. Higgins Road in Rosemont. That's convenient for business lunches and dinners for guests flying in and out of O'Hare International Airport. They'll seat 260, and open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, with dinner service only on Sundays. There's also three private dining rooms that can accommodate 10 to 125 people and a bar with a special menu featuring lighter fare including sliders and small plates. The 5,000-square-foot Estate will be reserved for large private events, like weddings, and features a ballroom. Combined with the restaurant it's 23,000 square feet.

Gene & Georgetti opened in 1941. It's a rare independent steakhouse, and it's run by the Dupretti family. Construction continues in Rosemont, but it should be ready for a private event on June 28.
