Scimitar GTE - October

Great Britain

The Reliant role within the motor industry is growing. It deals with the development of automobiles with plastic bodies for foreign brands and for their own production. The cars built by Sabra in Israel and Otosan in Turkey were developed by Reliant. The English factory currently produces three types. The Regal, a three-wheeled vehicle with water-cooled 600 cc four-stroke four-cylinder engine of Reliant's own design driving rear wheels. The 700 cc Rebel sedan and station wagon struggles to compete with the Leyland's Mini. The Scimitar is a low-priced sports car with 2.5 or 3 liter V6 engine from the English Ford. In his homeland, the Scimitar has gained considerable prestige since Prince Philip has bought one.
The Scimitar GTE SE5 from 1968 gets redesigned, wider and longer body with more conventional front end design and sports estate car bodywork with large glass tailgate, and folding rear seats. The suspensions are carry over from the SE4 but the chassis is entirely different with 7 inches longer wheel base and wider track front and back.
