| Description |
Hypholoma subericaeum (Fr.) Kühner Image location: Praia da Amieira, Sesimbra, Portugal Gregarious in dried up wetland full of reed, right behind ocean dunes, on soil. Occasional ovine and caprine pasture, soil manured, growing next to Deconica coprophila. Extremely hygrophanous, from a reddish-orange viscid, moist psilocyboid cap to a completely yellow-orange dry cap, passing through mixed states (olivaceous tinges common) where margin is colored differently than disc. Colour range gives the impression of different species. Margin somewhat striate. No separable cuticle. Recognized by sight: H. ericaeum, H. ericaeoides and H. olivaceotinctum are quite similar macroscopically. Used references: perfect match with the descriptions in “Strophariaceae (Noordeloos 2011)” Based on microscopic features: spore measures + apparent absence of chrysocystidia
