[8 spores per ascus; cortex C+ yellow-orange; thallus UV+ dark orange; ostiole area depressed, black, pruinose] This specimen of Pertusaria rubefacta was growing on bark of Betula alleghaniensis Britton along the Blue Trail at the Humboldt Field Research Institute in Steuben, Washington County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o27.585' N, Long. 67o56.016' W). Collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-95, 11 Jun 2001). |
