Characteristic Mandatory - Profitability Segment Button

Hello All Experts,

While doing FB50 for one of the GL account when I am going to Profitability Segment button I am getting MATKL - Material Group "Mandatory". I don't understand / know how this characteristics has been mandatory ?

Is there any way I can make this optional and pass on transaction processing smoothly ? Or how can I see from where this has been mandatory ?

Experts guidance will be very helpful on this.

Hi Sharu

Check the customizing in transaction KE4G or KEVG2, which Char Group you are using

Now go to KEPA, and modify that Char Group so that the field is not mandatory, anymore

But be sure enough, you need to take business info confidence

Just a note -

When I am assigning this to KE4G to a transaction group system showing me only one field in "Profitability Segment" when I am removing entry from KE4G system shows all the fields. See screenshot in above thread.

That's how it is designed.

Only the fields assigned in char group and assigned to rfbu will show during fi posting

Hello Sir,

I now changed the configuration and positioned it as "01" and it is placed as top first. The step which I followed -

1. Define Characteristics  Group in KEPA

2. Assign this group in KE4G to business function.

Along with RFBU do I need to assign this to few more other Business Translations ? or RFBU is enough ? I am expeting postings from FI only hence I selected RFBU.

Am I wrong here ?

When I made "WERKS" mandatory in Prof Seg, strangely I can see ONLY WERKS now, all other fields are disappeared !

Where all the others field ? Has anybody faced something like this ?

Try doing same operation with your old GL i.e 9000100.

I think Exit COPA0003 in in place in your system.

Hi Sharu

That means you have assigned only the WERKS field in your Char Group... Is it so?

Also, it seems you have not given it Position No. 1.. Hence, it is appearing in the middle of the screen

I can see COPA00003 in system via SMOD but INLCUDE "  ZXKKEU05 " is BLANK.

One more point...

In case you need the existing group to continue and use another group where the field is not mandatory, you will have to use exit COPA0003 whereby you can assign different Char Group for different GL Accounts
