SAP is strongly accelerating the journey to the cloud in the Utilities industry. While growing and transforming our industry solution portfolio for Utilities, we encourage our Utilities expert partners to join us in the journey and develop their own SAP Industry Cloud apps. By doing so, they can use the opportunity to complement and enrich the SAP solution portfolio, addressing customer needs, and strengthening the overall value proposition we jointly bring to the market. SAP Industry Cloud is SAP´s strategy to extend the Intelligent Suite with innovative Industry Cloud apps, which can come from SAP but also from Partner Edge Build partners. SAP Industry Cloud apps are built on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). Partners can commercialize their SAP Industry Cloud apps through SAP Store.

So, how can a partner participate in our latest Industry Cloud initiative and what is the entry ticket?

First step is to have an innovative use case that is addressing a solution whitespace or adding a new capability to the SAP Utilities solution portfolio. If you have more than one innovation case to propose – even better. You simply need to fill out the application form and send back to SAP (contacts below). Of course, use cases will be kept confidential.

All submitted partner applications will be reviewed by SAP experts from the IBU Utilities, Utilities Product Development, Industry Cloud Team, ENR Partner Management and Co-Innovation Lab Team. As this is a competition, two rounds of interviews will follow, and the lucky winners will be invited to join the Utilities Industry Cloud Innovation Group.

For those, who got picked to join the group, a busy week will follow. SAP’s Co-Innovation Lab team (COIL) will run a Utilities Hackathon (SPRINT1) in which partners enjoy exclusive enablement on SAP BTP cloud development techniques, individual advise regarding app realization and development support. The SPRINT1 will be concluded with a demo jam, giving partners the chance to showcase first results to SAP industry executives.

After SPRINT1, partners will individually finalize their apps with regular checkpoints and app review by the SAP team. Also, individual guidance and support is offered to all participating partners if required. As the goal is to have the app in SAP store in a targeted time frame, commercialization, customer feedback sessions and Go-to-Market launch will be planned, while the partner app is in development.

More information on the initiative, approach and prerequisites can be found here.
