Now 32 years old, former National Basketball Association (NBA) guard Andre Roberson nears the tail-end of his decade-long career, hinting at retirement following Strong Group’s 2024 Dubai International Basketball Championship on January 19 to 28, 2024.
Before he arrived in Manila last January 6, 2024, Roberson mentioned the decision during an appearance on his partner Rachel Annamarie DeMita’s “Courtside Club” podcast.

“[I’m] just giving it one last shot before I hang up the shoes and move on to my next career. I just kind of wanted to walk away and be satisfied to a degree,” mentioned the 2017 NBA All-Defensive Second Team awardee.
“[I’m] going to Dubai for an invitational to get a chance to explore the world and play a different style of basketball outside the NBA. This will be a great chance to bring it full circle—to experience different levels and aspects of the game, letting the game take me to places that I never would have known or dreamt about. It’s a great opportunity to further my career and my life,” he added.

Supplementing the Blatche-Howard core, Roberson joins fellow imports and fledging collegiate stars under the Tiu-Robinson mantle come the tournament’s second installment. The two-way cager is notable for his stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the mid-late 2010s, coinciding with the Durant-Westbrook era before its breakup. He last saw action on the NBA hardwood with the Brooklyn Nets under a 10-day contract during the 2020-21 season but was waived after two games.
