From New Latin pleuro- + Ancient Greek οὖς (oûs).

- A taxonomic genus within the family Pleurotaceae – certain gilled mushrooms, including some widely eaten species.
Usage notes[edit]
The genus was defined in 1871, by moving species previously placed in Agaricus. Since then, some species have been moved to other genera. See
