SOFIA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Bulgarian caretaker government headed by Galab Donev took office on Tuesday, with key tasks such as organizing the parliamentary elections on Oct. 2.

The government came to power at a difficult time, with spiraling inflation and impoverishment, exorbitant price of fuel, and a lack of gas for the winter, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said while announcing its tasks and priorities.

"Against this troubling background, your main challenge is related to the security," Radev told the government.

The main task of any caretaker government is to organize the elections, Radev said, adding that he was convinced that Donev's government would solve it successfully, as the previous three caretaker governments did.

Donev in turn said that this is the 100th government of Bulgaria.

He expected that his fellow deputy prime ministers and ministers would work at 100 percent in areas such as organizing and holding fair elections, finding a way out of all bequeathed crises, and de-escalating the political tension.

Radev appointed the caretaker government after the coalition government led by Kiril Petkov was ousted by a no-confidence vote on June 22, and the parliamentary parties failed to form a new cabinet.

Petkov's government was elected last December after three parliamentary elections within eight months.
