Eriogonum nudum var. westonii

Plants 3–6 dm tall; aerial flowering stems slender, 1–3 dm long, glabrous; leaves basal, the blades 1–2 cm long, 0.3–0.8 cm wide, tomentose abaxially, tomentose to floccose adaxially, the margins undulate-crisped; inflorescences umbellate or compactly cymose, 3–15 cm long, 3–20 cm wide, the branches glabrous; involucres 1–4 per cluster, 3–5 mm long, glabrous; flowers 2.5–3 mm long, the perianth yellow or, infrequently, white, pubescent.

Flowering May-Sep. Sandy, gravelly, or clayey flats, slopes or rocky outcrops, mixed grassland, saltbush, and sagebrush communities, oak, pinyon-juniper, and conifer woodlands; 700–1900 m; Inner Coast and Transverse ranges of Kern and Santa Barbara cos., and onto the foothills on both sides of the Sierra Nevada in western Inyo and Tulare cos., California.
