Careproctus es un género de peces babosos de la familia Liparidae.[1]​ Se encuentran en el océano Atlántico y Pacífico. Estas especies marinas carecen de pseudobranquias y se pueden sumergir a grandes profundidades, algunas hasta los 9000 metros. Generalmente habitan sobre la zona béntica.
