When Blossom premiered in 1990, you'd be hard-pressed to find a show on television that centered on a teenage girl. Inspired by J.D. Salinger's classic tale of adolescent angst, The Catcher in the Rye, the show was initially meant to star a boy. Thankfully, the creators realized an opportunity, and with that came one of the wittiest, most real coming-of-age sitcoms to grace '90s television. Click through the gallery to see what the cast has been up to since we first were welcomed into the Russo home.

Since Blossom went off the air, Mayim Bialik went on to earn a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from UCLA, and eventually a Ph.D. in 2007 from the institution.

She returned to TV in an equally beloved role as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory from 2010 to 2019 — garnering four Emmy nominations in the process — and went on to star as the titular character on the Fox sitcom Call Me Kat in 2021 and one of two permanent hosts for Jeopardy! (the other being Ken Jennings) in 2022.

"I think it was a precursor to a parental-guidance thing," Lawrence tells EW about the social legacy of the show. "Because we would talk about condoms and drugs." Bialik then corrects her TV brother: "We couldn't talk about condoms.... But there was an ample abundance of Playboy Bunnies on the show, which the network never seemed to have a problem with."

"A very smart female executive suggested he make it about a girl," Bialik tells EW of the decision to not make Blossom about a teenage boy. "Which at the time, in 1989–1990, was unheard of. 'Why would you make a show about a girl?'"
