TV Backlight Bleed

Purchased a Panasonic TX58EX700B a few weeks back and over the last few days have noticed massive white patches all over the screen when watching dark movies. See below picture where I hve put the TV onto a black screen.

Excuse the focus on the camera its quite hard to picture when dark.

Is this a defect in the TV as most I have seen before have bleed on the edges not a circles.
Whats your thoughts?

That’s fucked, reject it. I had 2 Samsung’s like that, in the end went back.

Is it edge lit or back lit? Never seen a panny that bad!

Yep looks like bit of an issue.

A lot of curved have that issue due to non uniform back light.

Garage List
Most backlit TVs will show some of this, although looks a bit pronounced.

Why I sway to an OLEDTV if watching in the dark .....

More Pictures in a better light. - is this normal effect of such a back lit TV or is this excessivly bad?
I have until 20 Dec to return as faulty.
I think its got worse over the last few days, especially now as I notice it!

Return it. And buy a TV with full local dimming and full backlight (direct lit) instead of edge lit. They are much more uniform than an edge lit display that will always show some backlight clouding towards the edges. Also curved screens don’t help either. It’s not normal but not unusual either. Try googling lcd tv clouding and you’ll see what I mean . When I was buying mine a couple of years ago (Samsung UE55JU7000) I had to search quite a bit to find a tv that had full dimming and full backlight so I didn’t suffer from this.

You're first picture looks more like clouding / uniformity than backlight bleed. BB tends to be more around the edges. Clouding can in some instances be reduced greatly (this gives some advice on how to get the best results).

Where did you buy it from?. As mentioned by others, you could take it back. The best LEDs don't suffer from this now and have great uniformity.

That defo needs returning, I could not cope with blacks like that, my edge lit curved Samsung drove me mad. I returned it and bought a flat panny with backlight and local dimming and have had no such issues since.
