Despondency

I see my film, “Despondency” like an abstract art. Existing in thought, or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence. Nelson Luis who plays “Alex Burnett”, the character is a direct reflection of having an existing in thoughts, but not in words or actions (physical). The structure is built as to allow us (filmmakers) freedom to manipulate and persuade. To me, this is being creative in storytelling through the lens of a camera, where the visuals overpower the dialogues.

“Despondency” falls in the genre of psychological thriller, where its character experiences unstable or delusional psychological states, in a sense of sometimes having a "dissolving sense of reality”. Existing in thoughts in Alex Burnett’s mind drives him mentally unstable, thus losing and dissolving the sense of reality around him.
