Finnish heavyweight boxer Robert Helenius knocked down his Brazilian opponent, Mateus Roberto Osorio, known as the “Tsunami” in Narva, Estonia in the second round on Saturday evening.

In an interview with Finland Today, Helenius described his opponent as “someone who came to win the fight. He was a tough opponent, who could take hard punches.”

But there was one special thing he couldn’t handle: Helenius’ hard right to the midsection.

“I got in a hard right already in the first round, but he didn’t give up.”

But in the second, somewhere around a minute and a half, Helenius hit another hard right in the midsection.

And the fight was over.

“It feels good to be back in the ring after a small hiatus after the previous fight. The next fight is going to be in the US. That’s where we are aiming to go.”

Helenius suffered a loss in his previous fight in the USA against his Mexican-American counterpart, Gerald Washington, in July. Helenius was leading the fight until the eight round when Helenius made a few mistakes.

” I can see that I made some technical mistakes. When you make such a mistake you can slow down and in boxing, just a few milliseconds is enough,” Helenius said previously.

On Saturday evening, there were no mistakes unless it’s a mistake to go after it as hard as you can. “I could have probably taken it easier,” Helenius said.

After following Helenius’ fights for years yours truly can attest that rarely happens.

Helenius will keep going after it.

Until he’s in the ring for a world championship fight.
