Miniature Fiber Optic Pressure Transducers

 

FISO’s sensors offer significant advantages over traditional solid-state catheters:

Models

  • The FOP-M200 has a diameter of 200 microns (0.008’’) and a standard range of ± 300 mmHg relative to atmospheric pressure.
  • The FOP-M260 has a diameter of 260 microns (0.010’’) and has a standard range of ± 300 mmHg relative to atmospheric pressure.
  • The FOP-MIV, which is assembled on a fully-robotized manufacturing line has a diameter of 550 microns (0.022’’) and is offered on a ± 300 mmHg range and a 0-150psi range.
  • They are used in several FDA, CE, CFDA, and PMDA approved devices in a great variety of clinical applications.

Complete System

The “signal conditioning” module is both the light source and the receiver of the fiber optic measurement system. The SKR converts the optical signal to a pressure reading without the us of an external amplification box. The researcher may plug the catheter’s optical connector directly into the SKR.

 

This development kit is geared towards customers wishing to evaluate and test the pressure monitoring system ( both the sensors and the reading units), before adding it to their hospital console.

 

 

Once ready to embed the OEM module, just take it out of the SKR-DEV casing. FISO provides the communication protocol required to establish communication between the host system and the OEM module, either through analog or digital means.

 

Transducers

The sensor is made of a MOMS* bonded to the tip of a fiber optic. The MOMS contains a deformable membrane assembled over a vacuumed cavity, which forms a small drum-like structure. The bottom of the drum and the inner surface of the flexible membrane form the Fabry-Perot sensing cavity. When pressure is applied, the membrane is deflected towards the bottom of the drum, which reduces the cavity length.
