Baron Robert August Valentin Albert Reinhold von Massow.
A little history about him.Baron Robert von Massow was one of Mosby's partisan warriors.

He was the son of one of the chamberlains to the King of Prussia and had served for seven years in the Prussian army.Von Massow was severely wounded in February 1864 and returned to Germany.

He later became a General commanding a corps during the Franco-Prussian war in the 1870's.Finally he was promoted to Commander of all German Cavalry prior to World War l.
When he was wounded it was in the American war of 1861-65.He was badly wonded in the lungs.He fought for the Confederate States of America.

It was then the Calfornian drew his revolver and shot him in the back. In almost the same instant Captain William Chapman of the rangers who saw the incident and the intention of Reid to fire, drew his revolver and shot him. He was instantly dead but Baron von Massow was so seriously injured that he could not rejoin Mosby’s command. After six months of recuperation von Massow returned in the spring of 1865 to Germany.
