Description: Native to Europe, Norway Maples are popular shade trees in urban areas all across the US. Though all are generally of unremarkable fall color, ‘Crimson King’ is a cultivar with rich, maroon leaves that retain their color throughout the summer. This resilient tree is very tolerant of heat, drought, a wide range of soils, and many pollutants. It’s dense, rounded, symmetrical form makes the Norway Maple a great street tree, as well as a lovely shade tree. Insignificant yellowish flowers clusters in spring give way to purple samaras (“propeller” fruits).
